Air freight isn't priced purely on weight. Carriers charge on chargeable weight — whichever is greater between actual weight and volumetric weight (calculated from the shipment's dimensions). A light but bulky shipment can cost more than a small, dense one of the same actual weight. On top of the base rate, expect fuel surcharges, security surcharges, and destination handling fees, which is why two quotes for the "same" shipment can differ if the chargeable weight calculation isn't done the same way.
Most regional shipments from Dubai move within 24-48 hours of pickup once booked. International transit time depends on route and whether the shipment is on a direct flight or requires a transfer — a routed shipment through a hub adds time even though the total flight hours look similar on paper. Same-day or next-flight-out air freight is possible but depends entirely on available capacity at the time of booking — this is where a forwarder with direct airline relationships matters, since last-minute space isn't something you can always book through a general cargo portal.
